McKenzie County, North Dakota

McKenzie County is located in northwestern North Dakota. We are the largest in area and diversity in the state.   Our physical makeup includes 503,000+ acres of National Grasslands, the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park; and we are bordered by Lake Sakakawea (largest man-made lake west of the Mississippi) and the Little Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers.

Economics range from farming (wheat to sugar beets) and ranching to oil & fuel production and IT industry.  Watford City, the county seat, is also a CERA community -- demonstrating that technology enhanced rural communities can provide better jobs, enhanced health-care access, education and government services.
